To: All of my friends!
First of all, a big thank you goes out to the people of Lima, Honeoye Falls, and the entire Rochester Community as well! You have all been so supportive. In the past month numerous facebook fan pages have been started, blogs have been posted, a Wikipedia page was created, heartening signs of support have been hung in local establishments, Friends have spoken kind words on the news, my music was played on the radio, money has been collected and donated. As if these amazing blessings weren’t already enough, I have and continue to receive many heart felt messages of the upmost sincerity. So, THANK YOU!!!

Jon's life From July 6th, 2009 To The Present
In the summer of 2009, Jonathan had a life changing epiphany. He discovered that the time to do something amazing isn’t a year away, months, weeks, days, or even a couple of hours away. But right now! He realized that if things were going to change for him, he was going to have to take the steps necessary for success. Finally it was clear to him that the door had always been open, he was just finally ready to walk through it! “My Friends and Family have always told me that I should just audition for the show. You’ll make it really far, they’d say... I think I just found reasons year by year not to do it. I would think things like what if the judges don’t like me, or I'd just be wasting my time with a TV show that has to keep its ratings high." I let my fears and worries hold me back. I guess it just hit me this summer. My circumstances outweighed my fears, and all at once, it was time to go for it!”
On July 6th 2009, Jon finally took the advice of his friends and family when he gathered his bags and headed for Orlando, Florida. There he auditioned in front of American Idol producers at the Amway Arena. Jon competed against more than 8,000 contestants that day. He was one of hundreds called back to audition at the end of July. The second audition proved to be a success as well. This time, Jon auditioned in front of executive producers of American Idol, and they sent him through to the third round! He was now on track to sing for the celebrity judges in Orlando at the end of August! “It was bizarre when I walked into the audition room and saw Simon, Kara, and Randy! It was much more surreal when I walked out holding a golden ticket to Hollywood!” Jon was one of 181 contestants from across the country to make it through to Hollywood.
The tale doesn’t end in Hollywood for Jonathan. In fact this story is just heating up for the 24 year old singer/song writer from Lima, NY. “Like I said in my exit interview, you haven’t seen the last of Jon Stills. This is truly the beginning because now I understand that the only limits to my success are those thoughts that I allow to stop my progress. And that although the end product isn’t quit what I imagined, I have a choice, to either quit or refuse to believe that it can’t be done!”
There were originally more than 110,000 contestants that auditioned for this year’s Season 9 of American Idol. Jonathan was among the 181 contestants that made it through to Hollywood.
